Chiropractic Care for Infants and Children

The chiropractic care restores the function of the nervous system, allowing the body to have a greater state of overall well-being. In case you didn’t know, a large part of the neurological development occurs in the first 6 months of life. What does that tell you? We must make sure that every child’s nervous system works properly.

Infants and chiropractic care

The first stress placed on a child’s spinal column occurs during birth. That’s why it’s of an utmost importance to have your newborn checked for subluxation (misalignment) as soon as possible. Both C-section and natural birthing methods can stress the spine and nervous system of an infant. The resulting irritation caused by subluxation can lead to different health complications, like colic, sleep disturbances, breathing problems, and chronic infections. The worst part is that such an injury might not be obvious at first, and if left untreated, might not become apparent for many years. So, in order to ensure that your baby gets a healthy start in life, you must have them checked by a chiropractor.

Is it safe?

It’s normal for new parents to fear the chiropractor for their newborn. However, chiropractors have a totally different approach for babies, so you can rest assured that the adjustments for infants are so gentle that your baby won’t even notice anything.

Teens and Chiropractic Care

Children as well as young adults experience the phenomenon known as growing pains.  As adolescents grow, this type of pain can be achy and dull and can be felt through the leg muscles. Since growing pains are muscular in nature, they can easily be treated through chiropractic care plan. Not to mention that teenagers, as energetic and active as they are, develop interests that may cause injuries to the body. These include adventurous pursuits like urban exploration, skating, cycling, and more. Although these activities are not dangerous, the tendency of the teenagers towards recklessness might increase the risk of an injury.  At Action Physical Therapy, our chiropractic treatment speed recovery from such injuries and prevent additional injuries in the future.
